Ministry of Health warns: "Magic Honey" contains life-threatening prohibited substance

The Ministry of Health has issued a warning to the public against purchasing or consuming the product "Magic Honey" (Dvash HaKesem), also marketed as "Weight Loss Honey" (Dvash LeRazia). Laboratory tests confirmed that the product contains a medicinal substance prohibited for sale in Israel due to significant health risks.
The product has not been approved by the Ministry of Health. Testing revealed the presence of the active ingredient sibutramine, which is banned in many countries worldwide. There are no registered preparations in Israel that contain this substance.
"Consuming sibutramine without medical supervision exposes users to unknown dosages, which can lead to increased blood pressure, rapid pulse, anxiety, insomnia, heart attacks, strokes, and psychiatric disorders," the ministry warned.
Officials noted that there have been past instances of hospitalization in Israel following the use of counterfeit products containing this substance. The ministry urges the public to purchase medicines and nutritional supplements only from pharmacies and authorized retailers, avoiding offers found on social media or messaging platforms.
For safe weight loss, the ministry recommends consulting a licensed nutritionist and maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Anyone who encounters this product or experiences side effects is requested to report it to the "Kol HaBriut" hotline at *5400.
