Model Barq Shamir speaks in an interview: "The amounts and budgets in the country have decreased"
Barq Shamir shares in an interview about the annual medical follow-up he must undergo: "I am in check-ups," reveals the severe economic crisis affecting the fashion industry: "People are living in the same wheel," and marks the next surprising destination overseas: "To develop sources of income."
Barq Shamir stands before the camera on another set, this time for the fashion brand Renoir. Despite the lightness, laughter, and bloopers on set, he provides an honest, exposed, and interesting interview, touching on all topics, from the hole in the industry's pocket to his personal health.
When asked about the economic situation in the local modeling industry, Shamir does not try to beautify the reality. According to him, since the events of October 7, the situation has become even more complex:
"I feel that fashion in the country, on one hand, has leveled up and there is more room, but I feel that in general, since October 7, the amounts have decreased, the budgets have decreased. People are living in the same wheel, which is not simple at all, and many people were still hurt by this."
Alongside this, he tells of a positive change in the definition of beauty and the new opportunities that have opened up in the advertising world: "Factually, the budgets abroad are much higher than in the country. Today, the world of modeling has expanded: a girl who is beautiful can model just because she is beautiful, and it doesn't matter if she is tall or fuller. But because there is room for everyone, that is precisely why the amounts have decreased, because there is an abundance of everything."
Between campaign shoots, Shamir also deals with a personal medical matter that has accompanied him over the years. Despite the natural concern, he maintains optimism:
"The truth is that it meets me once a year. I am under observation, with doctors and everything. I just have a different heart structure, but it's not something dangerous. I try to always think positive, I am in check-ups and everything is good."
Shamir's eyes are already set on the next destination overseas, where his schedule is filling up quickly for the upcoming season: "There are many developments, more in the United States. Now Fashion Week is starting, so I am returning there with full force. And there are many more things that will come out at the beginning of 2027 that I am very excited about... and soon you will know everything."
And what about tips for life and the pocket? If you were looking for a solid investment advisor, Shamir is probably not the address, and he is the first to admit it with a laugh: "The economic tip is I am a big spender, so I am not some economist. I think the young generation should just work, enjoy, accumulate money, and buy a lot. I think this is the time to actually spend, go out, and just enjoy every moment of life."
Regarding his own business outside the world of glamour, he prefers to focus on practical growth engines: "I tried to touch a bit on stocks and things like that, but I don't have a specific investment. I am thinking of buying an apartment, and I think less about investment and more about developing other sources of income that are not modeling."
