Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Challenges Zohran Mamdani to a Boxing Match
Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Guy Avner has challenged New York politician Zohran Mamdani to a charity boxing match. The initiative serves as a response to Mamdani's recent statements against Israel.

Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Guy Avner, has presented an unusual initiative: inviting New York politician Zohran Mamdani to a boxing match in the ring, following his statements against Israel and Jewish people, and amid growing incitement in the United States. The Israeli official's willingness to break diplomatic norms and challenge Mamdani was born out of deep resentment among the Israeli and Jewish public, who are unwilling to remain indifferent.
The media storm was ignited following a viral video published by Avner on social media. In the clip, he appears in a tank top and sunglasses, addressing the camera directly with determination. He invites Mamdani to a one-on-one boxing match, stating:
"You and me in the ring, charity event. Every dollar we make goes to charity".
In an interview with the program "HaOlam HaBoker" ("The World This Morning"), the Deputy Mayor explained the rationale behind choosing a boxing ring. Avner leveled sharp criticism at the New York politician, claiming that his statements are intended to incite violence:
"Zohran Mamdani has managed to anger a lot of people, he is a dangerous man, his statements against the IDF, against the State of Israel, against the Jews cause violence all over the world".
Avner further explained that the ring represents a sporting and controlled struggle that forces the opponent to stand behind his words. According to him, "in a boxing match there are laws, there are rules, there is a referee, there is a ring. And therefore I invite him there".
