Likud against Golan: "He is willing to allow Turkish military entrenchment in Syria"

The Likud party harshly attacked the chairman of the Democrats, Yair Golan, this evening (Wednesday) following his remarks against the Israeli strike in Syria. The party's statement claimed that Golan opposes activities aimed at preventing Turkish military entrenchment in Syrian territory.

"It is not surprising that Yair Golan, who calls for the establishment of a Palestinian terrorist state in the heart of Israel, is willing to allow Turkish military entrenchment in Syria, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is firmly pushing back against," the Likud stated.

The response came after Golan attacked the Israeli operation in Syria and claimed that it was a "provocative and dangerous move" that could, according to him, bring Israel closer to a confrontation with Turkey and harm relations with Israel's allies, led by the USA. The Likud continued to attack Golan in a political context as well, claiming that he is intended to serve as Minister of Defense in a future government led by opposition figures.

"Yair Golan is the man intended to be Minister of Defense in a government of Eisenkot, Lieberman, and Mansour Abbas," the party stated.

Earlier, Golan said:

"Again military force is being used for political considerations and again Israel is paying the price in security."

According to him, the government's conduct "erodes trust in Israel, distances partners and allies from us," and he called for a leadership that would use force to achieve security, and not, according to him, "to create another war for political survival."
