Cafe Noir Group Opens New Wine Bar 'Augie's'
Following the success of Sebastian in Herzliya and Augustin Brasserie in Ra'anana, the Cafe Noir group has launched 'Augie's', a trendy wine bar. Operating four days a week, the venue offers a relaxed, youthful atmosphere in the heart of Ra'anana's high-tech district.
More and more prominent restaurant groups are choosing to expand beyond Tel Aviv. This trend brings worthy culinary destinations to satellite cities, saving residents the need to travel long distances. Kiryat Ono, for instance, is becoming a culinary hub, with restaurateurs eyeing it for new projects like Oved BaKfar. Rishon LeZion is also seeing significant growth, and Ra'anana is no exception. Just a week after the opening of the taqueria Los Tacos, the Cafe Noir group has launched a new wine bar in the city's high-tech area, adjacent to their 2024 opening, Augustin Brasserie.
Augie's is situated in the plaza outside the restaurant, reminiscent of Haim Cohen's wine bar at Yaffo-Tel Aviv. The rectangular structure with an open kitchen and candlelit tables creates a trendy, inviting space. Wine bars have become a popular concept, offering a relaxed way to enjoy small plates and a glass of wine without breaking the bank. Similar venues have recently flourished on Sokolov Street in Ramat HaSharon, including Julin, Vineria, and Sofia.
The menu at Augie's is divided into categories: table snacks, raw, vegetables, seafood, and sweets, totaling 11 dishes. The wine list features sparkling, rosé, white, and red options, alongside three drinks: Aperol Spritz, Vermouth-tonic, and Negev Oasis beer. Prices range from 18 to 118 shekels per dish, with wine by the glass costing between 42 and 56 shekels.
Highlights include a milk bun with dips, Cafe Noir's signature mashed potatoes, fish crudo, a cheese plate, fish sashimi, and a unique potato-based Cacio e Pepe. For dessert, guests can enjoy chocolate mousse or malabi.
The atmosphere is informal and breezy, enhanced by large fans and a curated playlist. The design of the high-tech complex, featuring lotus pools, provides an intimate setting perfect for a younger crowd looking for a casual evening. While the service is still in its soft-opening phase and the food is undergoing refinement, Augie's successfully offers a lighter, more accessible version of the hospitality associated with the Cafe Noir group.
