The Creators of Beit Thai Open Grand New Restaurant Chae Lak in Herzliya
Yariv and Lak Malili, founders of Beit Thai, have opened Chae Lak at the Publica Isrotel Hotel in Herzliya. The stunning grand restaurant blends authentic Thai traditions with modern design.

For decades, Yariv Malili and his wife Lak have been the true pioneers of Thai cuisine in Israel. Long before exotic culinary trips became second nature, their iconic Tel Aviv eatery, Beit Thai, introduced locals to the magic of authentic flavors. Now, marking three decades of culinary success, the family is embarking on an ambitious new chapter with the grand opening of Chae Lak in Herzliya.
A Stunning Fusion of Modern Design and Ancient Tradition
Located inside the Publica Isrotel Hotel, the magnificent new restaurant seats over a hundred guests and reflects seven years of meticulous planning. Designed by architect Ori Ben Dror, the space blends sleek modern aesthetics with antique elements imported directly from Thailand, including reclaimed wooden beams from a centuries-old structure. At the heart of the dining room stands an antique pharmacy cabinet from Thailand, while the lighting fixtures above the bar cleverly incorporate traditional Thai cowbells.
Family Tradition Meets Fine Dining
Running Chae Lak is truly a family affair, involving Yariv, Lak, their children, and partner Itamar Israeli. Even the couple's fifteen-year-end granddaughter works alongside Lak to craft intricate, handmade desserts, including a rare century-old delicacy.
Every piece of wood in this restaurant has been touched by our hands. This is a project very close to our hearts, shares Itamar Israeli.
The Menu: Classics and New Discoveries
The extensive menu bridges beloved Beit Thai classics with innovative dishes exclusive to Chae Lak. Highlights include Kuay Teow Roll (rice noodle wrappers stuffed with shiitake mushrooms for 64 NIS) and Som Na (fermented beef with sticky rice and garlic, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled for 68 NIS). For those sensitive to heat, the menu also offers milder options like a velvety red curry with pumpkin (82 NIS).
Having opened its doors to immediate acclaim, Chae Lak is already fully booked for the next two weeks, cementing its place as the season's most anticipated culinary destination.
