"The cook threw sushi at us, the staff yelled for us to get out": Israelis kicked out of a restaurant in Mexico

A couple from Israel vacationing in the town of Mazunte, Mexico, was expelled on Wednesday from a restaurant amid shouts of "Fuck Israel" and accusations that they are murderers. The two, who are on their honeymoon and have been traveling for about a month, told N12 about the offensive experience: "We ordered food and drinks and the atmosphere was good, until the waitress asked where we were from." According to G., the staff at the place began to show hostility toward them, which ended in a demand to leave the premises.

"We saw many Palestinian flags in the town but we didn't make a big deal out of it, we also met many people here who actually wanted to listen and talk," G. shared. "We knew where we were going, there were those who made faces at us before this - but never like this."

However, at the restaurant, the couple encountered hostile treatment for the first time. From the moment they answered that they were Israeli, G. recounted how the waitress began playing songs in Arabic while shouting curses at Israel in English. "At some point, she turned to the cook and told him that she was unable to serve us the food. The entire kitchen staff came out and was terribly aggressive, the cook simply threw the sushi order we had placed at us," the young woman from Israel described.

According to the two, they confronted the waitress and asked if she was behaving this way because of their origin - and she confirmed it to them with full confidence.

"She said she didn't want to serve murderers and demanded that we leave. We told her she didn't know us at all, but she replied that she 'didn't care'."

G. said that the feelings following the incident are difficult: "We were literally not allowed to eat at the restaurant because we are Israelis. Two Mexicans and another Israeli who were at the place tried to calm the atmosphere, and we left there surprised and, above all, hurt."
