Pro-Palestinian activists in the United Kingdom are planning mass demonstrations in London next month, drawing inspiration from recent protests in France. According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, the activists have joined forces with radical left-wing groups to call on students and workers to mobilize for an international day of youth action at Trafalgar Square on November 20.

The day of action is being led by several organizations, including the SOAS Liberated Zone, alongside groups such as the International Youth Strike and Cardiff Students Against Cuts. The organizers are urging school pupils and university students to walk out of classes to take part in the widespread strike.

International Mobilization and Demands

In a joint statement, the radical groups expressed pride in joining an international movement that has previously led to student strikes across France. The organizers stated that they are calling on people across the UK to rise up against capitalism, authoritarianism, and right-wing policies globally, while taking part in a movement spanning nations including France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Greece.

The planned protests aim to pressure the British government to increase investment in education, reduce defense budgets, and change its foreign policy stance. Organizers criticized state spending on military equipment, claiming that university campuses are being militarized through partnerships with defense companies.

Political Concerns and Police Response

"> "The Conservative Party supports the right to free speech, but any attempt by the far-left to replicate the chaos seen in France must be met with the full force of the law," said Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp.

Political figures in the UK have expressed deep concern over the upcoming demonstrations, particularly in light of recent violent clashes, looting, and arson reported in several French cities. Colin Sutton, a policing adviser for the Reform Party, added that his party expects the London Metropolitan Police to adopt a strict and uncompromising approach toward any lawbreakers during the November rally.
