Candidate reserved by Netanyahu deviates from party line: "I don't understand why Eisenkot is not under security"

The Likud leadership is unlikely to be pleased: businessman Oren Dobronsky, a candidate reserved for the party list by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, wrote on Facebook that he does not understand why the Shin Bet is not providing security to Yashar! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot, who is emerging as a primary challenger to Netanyahu in the upcoming election.

These remarks were made in response to a post by businessman and Wix chairman Nir Zohar, who criticized the Shin Bet's decision not to provide security for Eisenkot. Zohar wrote:

"I don't know if it's appropriate or not, and honestly, I won't really get into it. I think that key candidates for Prime Minister should be under security, simply because it is important for Israeli democracy (imagine what would happen if, God forbid, something happened to one of them during an especially intense election campaign). I have donated, and I invite anyone who wants to do what he or she thinks is right to fund private security."

Many responded to Zohar's post, including Dobronsky, who wrote: "I agree with you, Nir Zohar. It is not at all clear to me what the considerations are for not providing security to leading candidates for Prime Minister."

Despite this response, Dobronsky's Facebook account is full of harsh criticism against the Yashar! chairman. For example, regarding Eisenkot's recent interview, he wrote: "Three months after the massacre! I cannot calm down from this. What defeatism, God help us."

In another post, he challenged Eisenkot's voters:

"I have a question for all Eisenkot voters - I understand that you think the opposite of me, but I ask you to be honest for a moment with your answer: Do you support bringing 150,000 Palestinians every day to work in Israel? I have a feeling that only the deranged leftists who learned nothing from October 7, who believe in the occupation and that the Palestinians should be given a state, will support such a delusional idea. But all those who vote for Eisenkot just because he is 'not Bibi', will you really sleep well knowing that Eisenkot will bring 150,000 Palestinians every day to work in Israel?"

"Please spare me the cynicism and the irrelevant answers," he added. "Try to give me your view on the subject clearly so that I can understand what you think about this specific intention. By the way, it is perfectly fine, of course, not to agree with this and still vote for Eisenkot, I am just trying to understand how you reconcile with this."

In another post, he attacked: "Defeatism as a way of life. What can you do, the archive does not lie. If we had listened to him, where would we be today? Let there be no doubt that Iran would have a nuclear bomb by now."
