Bitcoin surges again: The calm in the Middle East boosts crypto
The calm in the geopolitical arena, the drop in oil prices, and expectations for continued accommodative interest rate policy in the USA are bringing investors back to risk assets and providing a tailwind to the crypto market.

The crypto market started the week with a positive trend, as Bitcoin returned to trading above the $65,000 mark after recovering from the volatility recorded last week. The world's largest digital currency rose by approximately 1.5% and reached a level of about $65,405, which indicates a return of optimism among investors and a renewed increase in appetite for risk assets.
One of the key factors behind the gains is the decrease in geopolitical tension in the Middle East. After the exchange of messages and clashes between the USA and Iran, the weekend was characterized by relative calm, with no further attacks recorded between the parties. This development reduced fears of a broad regional escalation and returned a certain sense of stability to the markets.
The calm also affected the energy market, as the price of Brent crude oil fell by more than 5%. The decline in oil prices reduced concerns about a renewed rise in inflation, which reinforces assessments that central banks, and primarily the Federal Reserve, will not be required to continue a strict monetary policy for a long time. At the same time, the weakening of the US dollar made Bitcoin more attractive for investors outside the USA.
Markets are now awaiting the upcoming interest rate decision by the Federal Reserve. Although the assessments are that the interest rate will remain unchanged, investors will focus on the messages that the central bank chairman will provide regarding the possibility of interest rate cuts later this year. A low interest rate environment is generally considered positive for high-risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.
The positive trend was not only recorded in Bitcoin. Other leading currencies also recorded gains, as Ethereum strengthened by approximately 4.1% to a level of about $1,959, Solana added about 2%, and XRP rose by 1%. On the other hand, Dogecoin stood out with a slight decline of about 0.8%.
At the same time, investors are also following the earnings season of technology giants, including Microsoft, Apple, and Meta. In recent years, a high correlation has been recorded between the performance of technology stocks and Bitcoin, and therefore their results and the forecasts they will present, especially around the field of artificial intelligence, may also affect the continuation of the momentum in the crypto market in the near future.
