Right-wing activist Laura Loomer, a prominent and well-connected supporter of US President Donald Trump, is facing serious allegations of accepting undisclosed payments from private entities to promote political posts on social media. According to an investigation published by The Washington Post, the accusations were raised by Alex Bruesewitz, a 2024 Trump campaign adviser, and three anonymous sources, two of whom claimed they paid Loomer directly to share political messages on her X account, which has approximately 1.9 million followers.

Evidence indicates that Loomer charges between $3,000 and $5,000 per post, and sometimes more. Financial documents obtained by the newspaper reveal four bank transfers totaling over $60,000 sent since May of last year to a company registered under her name in Florida. The 33-year-old activist vehemently denied the allegations in an interview with the newspaper, defining herself as a journalist and political activist. She maintained that the funds were paid for consulting services and opposition research rather than writing posts.

"I am not some influencer making money off tweets, my business is public relations and investigative research," Loomer stated, adding that making a living in America is not illegal. Shortly afterward, she unexpectedly announced a hiatus from her online show to seek a healthier balance and prepare for her upcoming wedding.

The controversy sheds light on Loomer's immense influence within the current administration. During Donald Trump's second term, she met with him in the Oval Office and was reportedly involved in recommending the dismissal of senior National Security Council officials who had faced her public criticism. Sources who hired her services noted that she is considered a particularly effective messenger providing a direct channel to the president, though she is also regarded as difficult to control.

"She is like an atomic bomb, you have to be careful how you use her," one source remarked. Loomer, for her part, viewed the comment as a compliment, stating she has no intention of apologizing for monetizing the fact that people fear her. The lack of transparency in the political influencer industry currently occupies a legal gray area, as US trade regulators require influencers to disclose payments for commercial product promotions, while political posts on social media are not yet subject to similarly strict regulations.
