It all started when Sasha, the new wife of singer Omer Adam, rushed to update her surname on social media just a few hours after their wedding. The National Insurance Institute noticed the quick change on Instagram and did not remain silent, posting:
"Hi Sasha, you need to change your surname not only on Instagram, it is important to update your status here as well."
The determined and amusing appeal from the National Insurance Institute followed the couple's massive wedding, which took place in August 2026 in a series of luxurious events in the village of Portofino, Italy. The celebrations began with an intimate civil ceremony in the presence of family members and continued on Wednesday with the main official wedding event under a chuppah in the historic "Cervara" monastery.
The ceremony was held with partial gender separation and was musically accompanied by Hasidic singer Motti Steinmetz, in the presence of Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, while Sasha walked to the chuppah accompanied only by her father, as is customary in the classic European tradition. But while the celebrations in Italy have ended, the National Insurance Institute was quick to clarify that the bureaucratic part of the official registration is just beginning.
Sasha, 24, who was born and raised in Milan to a wealthy real estate family, holds an academic background in computer science from Reichman University and an internship at Harvard, and works as an intern at a venture capital fund in the field of crypto and financial technology.
Although she does not speak fluent Hebrew and daily communication between her and Omer Adam is conducted mainly in English, the message from the National Insurance Institute crossed language barriers and flooded the web. The institution's viral post reminded all followers that even after a fairy-tale wedding and a lightning-fast name change on Instagram, in the end, Israeli bureaucracy reaches everyone, and even the most glamorous brides are required to update their status in the state's databases.
