Deel is acquiring Clarity, an Israeli AI security startup that develops technology to detect deepfakes and synthetic identities within organizations. The deal is valued at approximately $45 million in cash and stock, with all 15 Clarity employees joining Deel.

Founded in 2022, Clarity raised $16 million in a seed round led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners. Its technology enables organizations to verify the authenticity of job applicants, identifying face and voice deepfakes, forged documents, and fake online interviews.

Since October 7, Clarity’s technology has been utilized by Israeli security agencies and government bodies to verify the authenticity of video clips and sensitive materials. The company highlights a growing threat: hostile actors posing as remote workers to gain access to internal systems, source code, and critical infrastructure for espionage, data theft, or fraud.

Recent warnings from the U.S. Department of State and the FBI indicate that North Korea operates a network of IT workers who impersonate citizens of other countries to secure employment via online platforms. Gartner forecasts that by 2028, one in four remote employees will be operating under a fake identity.

"This is the fastest and most powerful way to realize our vision through a platform serving about 40,000 customers across 150 countries," said Michael Matias, co-founder and CEO of Clarity. He noted that the company recently focused on recruitment fraud, with Deel serving as its first enterprise client in this sector.

Deel, founded by Israeli Alex Bouaziz and Shuo Wang, provides a global workforce management platform used by over 40,000 organizations. In the first half of 2026, the company surpassed $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue, with a valuation exceeding $17 billion.

The acquisition will integrate Clarity’s identity verification capabilities into the Deel platform, covering everything from background checks to secure access management. According to Matias, Deel approached Clarity after experiencing the value of the product within its own internal processes.

"Artificial intelligence is directly impacting how companies build and manage global teams while simultaneously shifting the threat landscape," said Alex Bouaziz, co-founder and CEO of Deel. "Organizations need new, continuous ways to verify identities and address emerging cyber threats."

Matias confirmed that the entire Clarity team will join Deel to continue developing the technology. This acquisition represents Deel's first foray into the cybersecurity market and its first acquisition in Israel.
