Yair Golan's reaction to the strike in Syria exposes the danger of a left-wing government
68 days until the elections. Amidst the political noise, we often overlook the central issue of national security. Yair Golan's recent criticism of Israel's strike in Syria highlights a stark contrast in security doctrines ahead of the upcoming vote.
68 days until the elections. Amidst all the politics and spins, we have somewhat forgotten that the central issue here in our country is security. Yesterday, the chairman of the Democrats, Yair Golan, broke another record. This is what he wrote following Israel's significant strike in Syria:
"The strike in Syria is a provocative and dangerous move, which brings us closer to a confrontation with Turkey and deepens the rift with our allies, led by the USA. Israel needs leadership that knows how to use force to achieve security, not to create another war for political survival."
Just so you understand, this man, Yair Golan, aspires to be a senior minister and cabinet member in the next government. Yes, this man is going to influence and determine Israel's security policy. He would be the one to stop Israeli strikes and the State of Israel's ability to halt the establishment of a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria.
In contrast, this morning we saw the uncompromising policy of Defense Minister Israel Katz. This is what he wrote this morning:
"Erdogan is dragging Turkey into dangerous adventures in Syria. Israel will not allow any party to threaten its security. It is better for Erdogan to continue giving empty, delusional speeches against Israel in the Turkish parliament and not put Israel's determination to defend itself to the test."
This is what the elections are about. What kind of government do we want to see established here this coming autumn? A government with Yair Golan's security concept or a government with Israel Katz's security concept? And one more small tip, just so you know what kind of government the residents of Gaza would like to see, as one of them said: "Eisenkot will be the next prime minister. I think that Eisenkot, and Yair Golan, and Yair Lapid, and Benny, and this whole group. And, like, they will have a different way of thinking about how the two peoples will live." So the choice is yours, it's called democracy.
