Israel Post Issues Critical Warning: "Contact Your Bank Immediately"
A new wave of phishing attacks is impersonating the Israel Post to steal personal data. The sophisticated fake site captures information in real time, meaning data can be compromised even before a user clicks submit.
A new wave of fraud and phishing attempts on social media is targeting Israeli consumers. In recent days, several sophisticated campaigns have been exposed that leverage the names of major economic entities to extract credit card details and sensitive user information.
This campaign involves messages posing as the Israel Post. The National Cyber Directorate warns of a sophisticated phishing attempt that mimics the official postal website and steals information as it is being typed. The fake site claims that a delivery attempt failed and requests that the user confirm or update their address.
Unlike many previous phishing sites, the information entered into this fraudulent link is transferred to attackers in real time. This means that even if a user does not click the submit button or complete the process, the entered details may already be compromised.
The Cyber Directorate advises against clicking on external links received via messages.
"Check the shipment status only on the official website of the post office or the shipping company," the Directorate stated.
If you are unsure of a site's reliability, copy the link and check it on resources such as scanmysms.com. Furthermore, do not enter personal details, credit card information, or one-time codes on any site reached via a link.
If you have already entered your details, you must contact your credit card company or bank as soon as possible, block the card if necessary, change any affected passwords, and monitor your accounts for suspicious activity. The Directorate is actively working to neutralize these fraudulent links.
