Likud and Religious Zionism Deploy Monitors to Arab Sector Polling Stations
Likud and Religious Zionism are deploying thousands of Jewish monitors to 1,100 polling stations in Arab towns for tomorrow's elections, raising political tensions.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party and Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism faction are deploying a massive monitoring operation across Arab localities ahead of tomorrow's general elections.
As part of the extensive preparations, Sagi Kaizler was appointed months ago as the dedicated project manager overseeing operations in the Arab sector. The right-wing parties intend to station Jewish representatives in approximately 1,100 out of the 1,539 polling stations operating across Arab towns and cities nationwide.
Thousands of party representatives are slated to monitor the polling stations throughout election day, spanning from morning voting to the final vote count. Last week, the designated representatives completed a specialized training seminar detailing regulatory guidelines, legal procedures, and strict protocols for observing the ballot casting and counting processes.
Historically, political factions maintained an informal arrangement regarding polling committee representation. While the Central Elections Committee allocates committee seats proportionally by law, parties routinely swapped placements to ensure Arab representatives monitored Arab localities and ultra-Orthodox representatives served in ultra-Orthodox towns.
However, in recent election cycles, parties began departing from this convention by deploying Jewish representatives to Arab localities amid stated concerns over electoral integrity. This cycle marks a significant escalation, featuring a centralized operational apparatus and thousands of field agents.
The deployment carries a high potential for friction as right-wing Jewish observers encounter local voters, polling committee members, and representatives of Arab political parties. Organizers anticipate a tense election day as monitors track voting procedures and oversee ballot box tallies until the final results are secured.
