Israel Advances 1,000 Housing Units with New Blue Line in Judea and Samaria
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Binyamin Council Head Yisrael Gantz announced a new 1,665-dunam blue line for Kida and Yishuv HaDa'at in Judea and Samaria, paving the way for over 1,000 housing units following their recent official recognition.
A significant step toward strengthening and developing settlement in Judea and Samaria was completed on Tuesday, as Finance Minister and Minister in the Ministry of Defense Bezalel Smotrich, alongside Binyamin Regional Council Head and Yesha Council Chairman Yisrael Gantz, announced the publication of a new blue line. The line spans 1,665 dunams for the communities of Kida and Yishuv HaDa'at in the Shilo bloc. This historic move follows cabinet decisions from the past year recognizing both communities as independent, and now paves the way for advancing comprehensive town-planning schemes.
The approval of the blue line marks the culmination of a years-long process for the pioneering residents, serving as a core pillar in the national plan to expand and solidify settlement in the region. Kida was established in 2003 as part of young settlement and endured numerous struggles until its official declaration as an independent community by the cabinet in December 2025. Yishuv HaDa'at was founded in 2001, initially as a farm and later developing into a community, and was officially recognized as an independent settlement in March 2026. Currently, initial town-planning schemes exceeding 1,000 housing units are already being advanced for both communities combined.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich welcomed the news and emphasized that the communities of Kida and Yishuv HaDa'at bravely stood for some 25 years waiting for the moment when the Israeli government would advance their legalization. The minister noted that as part of legalizing all young settlement in recent years, the government is completing the work here as well, with the publication of the blue line acting as an enormous lever for growth and development. Binyamin Regional Council Head Yisrael Gantz added that these are two pioneering communities built over two decades with faith, and now the vision is materializing as they become regulated, large communities as part of the revolution sweeping the entire Shilo bloc.
