A 16-year-old minor, a resident of East Jerusalem, was arrested by Border Police and district officers on suspicion of tearing a mezuzah from a doorway in the Silwan neighborhood and spraying graffiti on the entrance. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended his detention until Tuesday, November 10.

The incident took place last Thursday night when a local resident returned home to find the ritual object missing from the doorpost and offensive graffiti defacing the entrance. Following a formal complaint, officers from the Shalem police station and Border Police launched a swift investigation to track down the perpetrator.

Investigators successfully identified the teenage suspect, apprehended him, and transferred him to the Shalem station for questioning. During Sunday's hearing, the court granted the police request to prolong his custody as law enforcement authorities continue to examine the exact motives behind the act.
