Hapoel Holon announced on Friday the signing of Jamaican point guard Drew Thelwell for the upcoming season. Thelwell joins a backcourt that includes Yair Kravitz, who is continuing for another season, and guard Claudell Harris Jr.

"Drew is a player who can play with high intensity on both sides of the court, both defensively and offensively," said team coach Predrag Krunic. "He is an athletic player, efficient in the open court, with a good shooting range, a team-oriented mindset, and the motivation to show his potential in our league."

Thelwell (24, 1.90m) played four years at Morehead State University and moved for a fifth season to the University of Iowa. As a Hawkeye, he recorded 9.5 points, 3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game. He began his professional career at Pau-Orthez in the French second division, where he recorded 10.9 points and 1.7 assists per game, helping the team promote to the first division. Thelwell has been representing the Jamaican national team for the past year, recording 15 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in six World Cup qualifying games.

In addition to Thelwell and Harris, Adama Sanogo, Rivaldo Soares, and Greg Lee are also signed with Holon. The team also added Shahar Amir and retained Netanel Artzi. Idan Zalmanson was asked to find a new team, but has not yet done so.
