An Israeli citizen was arrested in Thessaloniki after allegedly causing severe disruptions aboard a flight originating from Budapest. According to local police reports, the 39-year-old passenger repeatedly ignored flight crew instructions, stood up during the flight despite orders to remain seated with his fastened seatbelt, opened overhead storage bins, and used an electronic cigarette inside the cabin. Greek authorities are currently handling the incident in accordance with international protocols for aviation safety violations.
This incident follows a series of recent legal troubles involving Israeli citizens abroad. Approximately one month ago, another Israeli passenger was detained after causing a disturbance on a flight from Chișinău to Warsaw. Polish Border Guard officers met the aircraft upon landing, resulting in a 500-zloty fine before the individual was released.
Additionally, federal prosecutors in New York recently charged two Israeli nationals, Sharon Hazan and Guy Sitrit, alongside Jacob Sewall, in connection with a 129 million dollar international artificial intelligence-based fraud scheme. Meanwhile, Greek authorities in Crete recently arrested three Israeli citizens during a narcotics raid at a hotel, alongside a separate arrest for disturbing the peace and damaging police property.
