Israel's political leadership used a graduation ceremony for ground forces officers at Bahad 1 to issue stark warnings regarding Iran, just days ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that any Iranian aggression would be met with overwhelming force, warning that Iran would burn if it attacks. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu similarly pointed to Tehran, asserting that the current regime is attempting to rebuild its nuclear capabilities and calling for regime change as the ultimate solution.

However, security officials and the IDF hold a more nuanced assessment of the situation. According to military sources, while Iran is attempting to restore its missile and drone capabilities, its progress remains relatively slow and far from crossing the red lines established by Israel and the United States. Defense officials emphasized that military action alone cannot completely dismantle Iran's nuclear program or collapse the regime, though it can significantly weaken its capabilities and delay the threat for years.

Military sources noted that Tehran is currently operating under extreme tension and high alert following previous precision strikes. Officials expressed concern that heightened anxiety on both sides could trigger unintended escalations across the region. Amidst mounting public anxiety ahead of the vote, with citizens stocking up on supplies and preparing shelters, the IDF is actively working to cool down tensions and prevent an unnecessary regional conflict.

Security establishment assessments suggest there is no immediate operational necessity to initiate a preemptive strike on Iran or other fronts, including Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza. Officials pointed out that the upcoming US midterm elections, scheduled roughly two weeks after the Israeli vote, further influence strategic timelines, as US President Donald Trump is unlikely to push for a major military campaign beforehand.
