The extortion phenomenon targeting business owners in Israel continues to escalate, as criminal syndicates demand protection money under threat of violence and property destruction. Three entrepreneurs who refused to bow to these extortion demands have spoken out, exposing the harrowing reality they faced from the initial encounters to severe financial and personal consequences.

In a special investigative report broadcast by local media, business owners shared their testimonies regarding systematic extortion attempts. Alongside their accounts, the investigation featured rare insight from a perpetrator detailing the mechanics of protection rackets and the violent methods used against those who defy them.

Shimon Haddad, a contractor whose construction project became a prime target for criminal syndicates, described how multiple groups approached him demanding protection fees. "We won a project and started working at a very high standard. We brought in heavy equipment and built up the entire settlement," Haddad recounted. Shortly after arriving on-site, a succession of vehicles approached him, with individuals claiming territorial control and demanding mandatory protection payments.

Another business owner, Yariv Ben Ami, founder of the "Ad Kan" organization, described the severe sabotage his venture suffered after rejecting extortion demands. Criminals targeted his heavy machinery, vandalizing and removing essential components to disable the equipment while demanding a ransom.

Perhaps the most chilling testimony came from an individual identified as a criminal gang member, who outlined the brutal efficiency of protection rackets. "It is very simple. I arrive at a business or contact someone and demand a specific sum by a certain date. If they fail to prepare the money, I shoot at their home or business. Realizing the danger, they pay, deciding not to ruin their lives over money," the extortionist explained.
