Iris Haim: "I voted for them all my life - no more"
The mother of the late Yotam Haim shared in an emotional interview about the political awakening process she has undergone since the outbreak of the war. In her remarks, she expressed shock at the calls to bring back Palestinian workers: "I no longer believe in peace with them, and this awakening must be expressed at the ballot box."
Iris Haim, mother of the late Yotam Haim, who was kidnapped from his home on October 7 and killed by mistake in the Gaza Strip, shared this morning (Tuesday) in an interview with Shimon Elkabetz on the "Galey Israel" radio station about the process of political and personal awakening she has undergone. Haim revealed the profound change in her worldview since the outbreak of the war and addressed the political implications of the new reality.
"All my life, until the last elections, I voted for the left and then for the center-left, and I have awakened," Haim shared during the broadcast. In her remarks, she expressed sharp resentment over the voices calling for a return to routine in economic relations with the Palestinian Authority: "How is it possible to let 150,000 Palestinians in to work here again? I am shocked by this."
Haim added with pain: "I no longer believe in peace, I cannot believe in peace with them, and it makes me very sad of course because I would like peace, we all want it."
Later in the interview, the mother of the late Yotam addressed the political map and called on the public to translate the new perception into the next elections: "This awakening is something that must also be expressed in the votes for the next government. Because you and I understand, and all the listeners of Galey Israel probably understand, but what happens with those who do not...?"
