Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, currently visiting Qatar, addressed diplomatic contacts with the United States and a letter from US Vice President JD Vance during an interview with Al Jazeera on Saturday. Araghchi acknowledged that Washington's desire for talks represents a positive step, but clarified that no meetings with US representatives are currently planned. He added that mediators have presented a US nuclear proposal, which Tehran is currently reviewing.

At the same time, Araghchi stressed that Iran's current focus centers exclusively on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He outlined Tehran's demands, stating that conditions include lifting sanctions and thinning out US forces in the region. Regarding the format of future negotiations, the Iranian foreign minister noted that Tehran will decide whether talks will be direct or indirect only after the United States accepts these terms.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that US President Donald Trump delivered a message to regional allies warning them to prepare for potential military action against Iran following next week's US midterm elections. According to Gulf officials, the Trump administration advised regional partners to brace for a brief and intense aerial campaign that could commence as early as November 4. A regional official noted that several countries might object to the US utilizing local bases for such operations.

Simultaneously, sources close to Qatari and Pakistani mediation efforts informed Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that an American delegation will join negotiations in Doha to hold discussions with Iranian representatives. This development paves the way for a potential return to diplomatic tracks following agreements on preliminary measures concerning the nuclear program, shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, and financial incentives for Tehran.

Concurrently, sources informed Al Arabiya that Iranian committees have been established to discuss US proposals regarding the nuclear file following a positive message from US Vice President JD Vance. In parallel, the Israel Defense Forces remain on high alert amid assessments that tensions will peak following the US midterms, as President Trump reviews military options for a multi-day campaign against Iran alongside a significant US arms buildup in the region.
