Technology giant Meta and its founder Mark Zuckerberg have announced a new development: an artificial intelligence (AI) tool designed to operate directly on your personal computer, without the need for a network connection or cloud servers. The goal of this initiative is to provide every individual with a "personal digital agent" capable of performing complex tasks independently while fully maintaining user privacy.
The new model, dubbed Muse Glimmer, features 30 billion parameters and is distributed as open source for free. Utilizing advanced compression methods and a unique acceleration mechanism, the model requires less than 20 gigabytes of RAM and responds at high speed. It is capable of processing text and images in over 100 languages and includes self-diagnostic capabilities to correct errors during task execution.
"Our vision is to ensure that every person has access to a personal agent that will operate around the clock and help improve health, career, and finances," declared Zuckerberg.
In his remarks, the Meta founder called on the US government to ease regulations on open-source software to better compete against China. He also promised that the powerful infrastructure model Muse Spark 1.2 would soon be released for free as well.
Meta's latest development shifts intelligent processing power from the remote servers of large corporations directly into the hands of users.
