Australian Influencer Banned From Qantas and Jetstar After Safety Stunt
Australian influencer Hugh Lovett has been banned by Jetstar and Qantas after inflating his life jacket during a safety demonstration on a flight from Sydney to Adelaide.

Australian influencer Hugh Lovett has been banned from flying with Jetstar and its parent company Qantas after inflating his life jacket during a pre-flight safety demonstration on a flight from Sydney to Adelaide.
The incident occurred approximately a week ago. According to reports, Lovett and his travelling companions were permitted to remain on the specific flight, but police officers were waiting for him upon landing in Adelaide. Lovett stated that the flight ban is temporary pending an ongoing investigation, though both airlines have not yet specified the exact duration of the restriction.
Incident Details and Reactions
In a video posted online, Lovett is seen inflating the safety vest while the automated audio instructs passengers to inflate their life jackets only upon exiting the aircraft. The caption accompanying the video read: "Turns out you are not supposed to copy them." Cabin crew members approached Lovett and allowed him to remain on the plane on the condition that he moved to another seat, as his original seat no longer had a functioning life jacket and could not legally accommodate another passenger.
According to Flightradar24 data, the route is a daily service operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, with a flight duration of approximately one hour and forty minutes. Upon landing, local police officers escorted Lovett off the aircraft for questioning. Authorities confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
A spokesperson for Jetstar issued a strict statement regarding the incident: "We have zero tolerance for behaviour that compromises the safety of our passengers and crew. Passengers are legally required to comply with crew safety instructions at all times, and must not tamper with or remove safety equipment unless instructed to do so."
