Fire in Sha'ar HaNegev Industrial Zone Brought Under Control

Firefighters have brought a large fire under control in the Sha'ar HaNegev industrial zone on Monday, following hours of intensive firefighting efforts.

During the operation, dozens of fire and rescue teams worked alongside aircraft from the "Elad" squadron to contain the blaze and prevent damage to adjacent buildings.

The incident affected three structures. Throughout the event, there was no involvement of hazardous materials at the scene. Firefighters are currently continuing final suppression operations, extinguishing hot spots, and conducting site inspections to rule out any risk of reignition.

Traffic routes adjacent to the area remain closed. Specifically, Highway 232 is blocked in both directions, and the entrance to Sderot from Highway 34 is closed. Israel Railways announced that the Sderot station is temporarily inactive, with all passenger services suspended until further notice.

The fire broke out in two separate locations. Five firefighters sustained light injuries during the operation, including one rescued by the Lehava unit, and one civilian was treated for smoke inhalation. Occupants of the complex were evacuated, and residents of the "Music" neighborhood were advised to remain indoors and keep windows closed until the threat was cleared.
