Man breaks into Bat Yam home, beats woman and steals thousands of shekels
A young woman from Bat Yam reported that a 29-year-old man who broke into her apartment at 02:30 beat her, threatened her, and stole approximately 6,000 shekels. The suspect was arrested near a shopping center in Kiryat Ono, in possession of 4,000 shekels in cash and receipts for clothing purchases totaling 2,000 shekels. His detention has been extended until Tuesday.
On the night between Thursday and Friday, a young woman from Bat Yam was attacked in her own home. According to the investigation, a man broke into her apartment, violently beat her, threatened her, and demanded money. The incident concluded with the suspect fleeing the scene with approximately 6,000 shekels, leaving the victim injured.
The report was received around 02:30 from the victim, who resides on Haviva Reik Street. A MADA team arrived at the scene to provide medical treatment, while police initiated a search for the suspect. Following an investigation, the 29-year-old suspect, a resident of central Israel, was located and arrested in Kiryat Ono later that afternoon.
During the arrest, police discovered evidence that proved critical to the case: approximately 4,000 shekels in cash alongside receipts for clothing purchases totaling about 2,000 shekels. The total amount corresponds to the sum stolen from the victim just hours earlier.
Investigators believe that in the time between the robbery and his arrest, the suspect used part of the stolen money to purchase clothing. The remaining 4,000 shekels were recovered from his possession.
Furthermore, the suspect was found riding a motorcycle suspected of being stolen, and burglary tools were discovered in his possession. On Saturday night, the suspect was brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, which extended his detention until next Tuesday. The investigation is ongoing.
