An indictment has been filed against a 38-year-old resident of Kiryat Motzkin, the owner of a pit bull, following an incident in which her dog attacked a neighbor and his pet. The charges were submitted to the Magistrate's Court in Kiryat Yam.

According to the indictment, the incident occurred when the owner left her apartment to take out the trash, leaving the door open. The pit bull escaped without a leash or muzzle and lunged at a Pekingese belonging to a 76-year-old neighbor. The attack caused severe injuries to the smaller dog, requiring urgent veterinary care.

When the neighbor attempted to intervene and pull his dog away, the pit bull turned on him, knocking him to the floor and biting his hand four times. Fearing for his life and the safety of his pet, the neighbor drew his licensed personal handgun and fired two shots at the pit bull, stopping the attack.

The indictment notes that this was not the first time the dog had harmed other animals. The owner is charged with reckless and negligent conduct for failing to take the necessary precautions required by law for keeping a dog classified as dangerous.
