The Israel Defense Forces announced that an airstrike in the central Gaza Strip killed Ihab Gamil Abu Takiya, a Hamas cell commander involved in holding numerous hostages at the beginning of the war.

According to the IDF, Abu Takiya participated in holding captives including Raya Rotem, her daughter Hila Rotem Shoshani, Emily Damari, Ohad Ben Ami, Noa Argamani, Andrey Kozlov, Shlomi Ziv, Almog Meir Jan, Maxim Herkin, Yosef Haim Ohana, Segev Kalfon, and the late Alexander Lobanov.

The strike also eliminated Ibrahim Jihad Muhammad Abu Ashiba, who served as a Hamas platoon commander.

The military stated that both operatives advanced terror plots against IDF troops and Israeli civilians throughout the conflict, worked to rebuild Hamas military capabilities, and violated the ceasefire agreement.
