IDF Raises Alert Level as Military Targets Key Hamas Commanders
The IDF raised its alert level on Simchat Torah, marking three years since October 7, amid ongoing counter-terrorism operations and targeted eliminations of key Hamas commanders across Gaza and the West Bank.

The IDF raised its alert level across Israel and the West Bank during the Simchat Torah holiday, marking three years since the October 7 massacre, despite the absence of specific warnings regarding imminent terror attacks. Both the military and the Shin Bet remain on high alert to thwart potential high-profile attacks by Hamas.
Counter-Terrorism Operations in the West Bank
During the Sukkot holiday, forces from the Nahal Brigade's 931st Battalion and the Maglan Unit operated under the command of the Samaria Brigade. Troops detained wanted suspects, confiscated weapons, and seized materials used for manufacturing explosive devices.
Operations in Nablus included nighttime raids in the Casbah and the Balata refugee camp. Six operatives, including a Hamas member, were arrested, and roughly 50 suspects were detained overall during security sweeps across the West Bank.
Eliminating Key Hamas Commanders
Ahead of the third anniversary of the war, the IDF and the Shin Bet are relentlessly pursuing those who participated in the October 7 atrocities. In September alone, 70 operatives were eliminated, including three brigade commanders, two battalion commanders, and nine company commanders.
"The elimination of terrorist operative Ezz al-Din Bik marks an important closure for the IDF and the Shin Bet, who will continue to operate with force against the perpetrators of the October 7 massacre."
Among those eliminated in September were Khan Yunis Brigade commander Muhammad Yazouri, Rafah Brigade commander and operations head Na'al Abu Obeid, Northern Gaza Brigade commander Ezz al-Din Bik, and the organization's finance chief Muhammad Abu Alwan. Other targeted individuals included operatives involved in holding hostages and raiding Israeli territory.
