Idan Amedi Marks Years of War and Honors Fallen Comrade Akiva Jasinsky
Israeli artist and reservist Idan Amedi shared a moving post marking three years since October 7, honoring his fallen comrade Staff Sergeant Akiva Jasinsky.

Idan Amedi, one of Israel's most beloved artists and fighters, shared a poignant post reminding everyone of the heavy price paid since October 7. Amedi published the last photo taken on his phone before the outbreak of the war, showing him with his daughter on his shoulders during a bicycle ride.
The Memory of October 7
"This is the last picture I took on my phone before all of our lives changed," Amedi wrote. He described scrolling through the subsequent photos of burned cars, fallen citizens, and friends who are no longer alive. "From a bright sky to three years of pain and longing. To the bereaved families carrying sorrow every moment, long nights. Because of you we are here, privileged to lift our children on our shoulders."
"Because of your loved ones, because of the courage and values you instilled in them — we will forever be indebted to you. We will forever remember," Amedi wrote.
Remembering Staff Sergeant Akiva Jasinsky
Alongside his words, Amedi posted a photograph from the cemetery facing the grave of his close comrade, Staff Sergeant Akiva Jasinsky, who fell in battle in the central Gaza Strip on January 8, 2024, at the age of 35. Jasinsky immigrated to Israel alone at age 14 from Ukraine, later converting and choosing the name Akiva. He graduated with honors in mechanical engineering from the Afeka College.
When the war broke out, Jasinsky immediately reported for reserve duty in the Combat Engineering Corps. Serving as a combat soldier, sapper, and professional sniper, he radiated calm and confidence to everyone who fought alongside him.
