IAI Unveils POINT@AIR Tactical Aerostat Radar at AUSA Exhibition
Israel Aerospace Industries unveiled POINT@AIR, a compact aerostat-mounted tactical radar providing 360-degree coverage and advanced low-altitude threat detection at AUSA.
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will unveil the POINT@AIR system for the first time this week at the AUSA defense exhibition in Washington. The system is a tactical radar mounted on a compact aerostat designed to integrate advanced detection capabilities within a small, mobile, and flexible platform. Based on the ELM-2083 operational radar family, it incorporates Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology.
Advanced Detection and 360-Degree Coverage
The new development enables long-range detection, continuous tracking, and 360-patial coverage. The radar detects and tracks aerial, maritime, and ground targets, prioritizes them according to operational needs, and executes multiple missions simultaneously. Furthermore, the system connects to command and control networks to generate a comprehensive operational picture.
"The ability to see and understand the combat space is the starting point for any effective defense," stated IAI CEO Guy Bar Lev.
Rapid Deployment and Low-Altitude Defense
The POINT@AIR system is engineered for continuous operation and rapid field deployment without relying on permanent infrastructure. Elevating the radar via aerostat extends line-of-sight beyond ground obstacles, facilitating the early detection of low-flying threats.
