A week and a half after the tragic death of Captain Eliav Chaim Tseplumos, 21, in a Humvee rollover in southern Lebanon, his family is demanding answers regarding the incident. The young officer, serving in the 603rd Engineering Battalion of the 7th Brigade, lost his life when his vehicle overturned during operations in the Litani area.

Demands for a Thorough Investigation

His father, Beni, voiced strong criticism over the circumstances of the deployment, questioning why a single vehicle was moving without proper escort or operational necessity.

"We are failing to understand what happened to us. It is clear there was a major failure that caused our son to be killed," Beni said. "Who authorizes a single Humvee to drive alone in Lebanon just to transport a soldier home? Someone messed up, and when they overturned, he had no chance."

Friends and comrades have been visiting the family home in Kiryat Haim, with some tattooing the commander's mottoes on their bodies. His partner, Inbar Koren, remembered him as her closest friend and core of her life, mourning the loss of a five-year relationship.

Funeral and Final Tributes

More than a thousand people attended the funeral to pay their final respects. His mother, Hali, delivered an emotional eulogy, recalling his deep sensitivity and philanthropic nature.

"My Eliav, how can a mother eulogize her son?" she asked tearfully. "You were always first—the firstborn, bringing light and meaning to our lives. Send us strength, for our family is shattered."

The incident remains under review by the military, and the Israel Defense Forces have not yet issued an official response regarding the precise operational failures that led to the rollover.
