iPhones Float in Strait of Hormuz Following Iranian Ship Attacks
iPhones and luxury goods were seen floating in the Strait of Hormuz following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels, amid a sharp escalation in maritime strikes aimed at influencing global oil prices.

Arab media outlets circulated footage showing iPhones and other luxury goods floating in the Strait of Hormuz following recent Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the strategic waterway. The videos show floating containers surrounded by scattered items, with locals on small boats gathering valuable goods, including boxes of new iPhone models.
The footage emerged a day after Iran announced that a cargo ship carrying 2,500 containers sank in the strait after allegedly hitting a mine in an unauthorized route. Simultaneously, Reuters reported from maritime industry sources that the Singapore-flagged container ship GFS Pride sank after being directly struck by weaponry, causing a fire. All 21 crew members were safely evacuated.
Maritime security sources note a sharp surge in Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, reaching the highest levels since the outbreak of the conflict. According to Iranian officials, Tehran adopted a new strategy to escalate attacks on shipping to keep global oil prices high and influence upcoming midterm elections in the United States, defying efforts by the US and its allies to stabilize trade.
Meanwhile, regional tensions extended to the Bab el-Mandeb strait and Saudi Arabia, where Riyadh reported intercepting Houthi drone attacks. Saudi officials stated that recent Houthi strikes have killed at least 19 people, accusing Iran of encouraging the escalation to gain leverage against Washington.
