Hezbollah Admits Ownership of Seized Explosives Intended Against Israel
Hezbollah admitted a seized 500-kg explosives shipment was intended for attacks against Israel, demanding the release of detainees in a sharp escalation with the Lebanese military.

Hezbollah admitted on Thursday that a 500-kilogram explosives shipment seized last week by Lebanese authorities belongs to the organization and was intended for use against Israel. Hezbollah parliament member Hassan Fadlallah confirmed the ownership, demanding the immediate release of those detained and the return of the cargo, according to AP.
Fadlallah claimed the explosives were meant strictly for use against the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon, dismissing allegations that they were earmarked for political assassinations. The statement marks a significant escalation against the Lebanese army, which is attempting to restore state control.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that the state will not tolerate illicit weapons and vowed to identify all involved. The military has seized multiple explosive shipments near the Syrian border since late 2024 as both nations crack down on cross-border smuggling.
