Lebanese sources reported that Hezbollah is raising its combat readiness amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, anticipating potential regional conflict ramifications.
According to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Diyar, the organization maintains operational capabilities for a potential confrontation, while monitoring Israeli military actions in southern Lebanon and their impact on the temporary ceasefire.
Egyptian Mediation and Political Stagnation
Simultaneously, Egypt has initiated indirect diplomatic contacts with Hezbollah to assess the viability of maintaining the ceasefire. Egyptian mediators also attempted to explore conditions for renewing political dialogue between Hezbollah and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
"The current circumstances are not suitable for holding any dialogue," Lebanese political sources stated, noting that Hezbollah outright rejects President Aoun's demands regarding the disarmament of militias.
Internal Leadership Shifts
Meanwhile, reports indicate friction within Hezbollah's leadership and dissatisfaction from Tehran regarding Secretary-General Naim Qassem's performance. Sources suggest that Qassem's authorities in sensitive portfolios have been curtailed, with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer Ali Abbas assuming a more prominent role in decision-making.
