The security establishment and the IDF have been unable to determine the fate of Hamas leader in Gaza, Ali al-Amoudi, following an assassination attempt carried out several days ago. Israel remains uncertain whether he was injured, and if so, the extent of his injuries.

Ali al-Amoudi has long been at the top of Israel's targeted killing list in Gaza. Over the weekend, following precise intelligence provided by the Shin Bet and Aman, approval was granted by the political leadership to eliminate him.

Fighter jets from the Air Force approaching from the west of the apartment building where the terrorist was hiding fired several precise missiles into the first-floor apartment of the high-rise. These missiles featured small warheads designed to prevent collateral damage to other residents in the building. However, this relatively small warhead likely allowed the terrorist to survive.

Assessment in Israel is growing that Ali al-Amoudi survived the assassination attempt. He is considered a senior Hamas figure in Gaza, designated as the successor to Yahya Sinwar, and was one of the architects of the October 7 massacre. He was also part of the inner circle of decision-making alongside the Sinwar brothers and Muhammad Deif.

While al-Amoudi does not hold an official title as the organization's leader in Gaza, having announced his candidacy in internal Hamas elections, prevailing sentiment within Hamas and the Gazan street indicates he is the figure currently leading the organization in Gaza.
