Haifa Transforms Abandoned Gas Station Into Vibrant Community Cultural Hub
An 11-dunam urban space in Haifa along Khuri Street is transforming into Haifa Salon, a temporary community and cultural hub created by Reality Group and HaMigdalor.

In the heart of Haifa, between Wadi Nisnas and Hadar, an 11-dunam urban space along Khuri Street is undergoing a cultural transformation. Historically characterized by parking lots and gas stations, the area is now home to "Haifa Salon," a temporary community space established through a collaboration between Reality Group and the local HaMigdalor association.
Breathing New Life into Urban Spaces
According to Aviv Negbi, Impact Manager at Reality Group, intermediate uses are not merely a placeholder between acquisition and future development. They represent an opportunity to listen to the location, understand surrounding needs, and generate immediate civic value. The project integrates the site's rich heritage, including remnants of the historic 1908 Khuri family palace, whose ruins once stood where the Nabi'in Tower was later built.
Community-Driven Design and Future Plans
The physical concept of the Haifa Salon was designed by O.A Studio, focusing on creating an inviting environment for residents, creators, and local communities. Omri Zilkha, an architect and member of HaMigdalor, noted that the space aims to serve as a home for Haifa's design and architecture community. Ultimately, the site is slated for a mixed-use development combining residential, commercial, and green public spaces, seamlessly connected to Haifa's famous pedestrian staircases.
