Just before the election campaign in Israel, at a time when social networks are expected to be filled with propaganda, half-truths, and misleading claims, Guy Zohar returns to the screen with 'From the Other Side'. The long-running program of Kan 11 and Kan BOX will return to the air this coming Sunday, seeking to bring order to the statements of politicians, party propaganda, and media reports by contrasting them with facts and reality.
The new season will place special emphasis on exposing fakes and misinformation, which have become a significant part of public discourse. The program will examine the claims distributed to the public, how they are presented, and the gap between these narratives and reality.
One of the main innovations of the season will be the 'Fake Machine', a new artificial intelligence service from Kan. It will be accessible to viewers, allowing them to check whether videos and images distributed online are authentic or fake. This service addresses the concern that as the election campaign progresses, the public will be exposed to a larger volume of fabricated content intended to influence voter opinion.
Viewer inquiries will also be integrated into the program. Fakes submitted by the audience will be brought to the broadcast, verified, and analyzed in depth. Thus, the program will address not only information originating from the political system but also content circulating on the web that could mislead the public.
The season will also include a series of special programs focusing on party leaders. These segments will closely examine the narratives presented by candidates ahead of the elections, aiming to understand the stories they are selling to the public and the extent to which they match reality.
Alongside the new content, 'From the Other Side' will feature a new studio and updated graphic packaging. The studio was built specifically for the program, allowing for the first time the inclusion of guests who can respond to fact-checks and present their perspectives on the identified gaps and fakes.
'From the Other Side with Guy Zohar' has been broadcast on Kan, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, since February 2019. Throughout its run, the program has become a brand synonymous with on-air fact-checking and has won the Israeli Academy of Film and Television award for outstanding current affairs program six times, including this past year.
Now, ahead of an especially stormy election campaign, the program returns with a clear goal: to filter the surrounding noise, expose fakes and misinformation, and examine messages reaching the public against the facts. Using the new artificial intelligence tool, content checks, and election segments, 'From the Other Side' seeks to tackle one of the central problems of the social media era: the difficulty of distinguishing between true information and content intended to mislead.
