Clan war in the Negev: shooting, stones, and Molotov cocktails

Five suspects were arrested over the past weekend during a police operation in Ar'ara in the Negev, against the backdrop of a conflict between families in the town, during which several shooting and stone-throwing incidents occurred. This was learned today, Monday. Among other things, a Carlo rifle, a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, and items used to prepare Molotov cocktails were seized.

Police officers from the Aroer station, fighters from the Yoav unit, and the Southern Border Police operated over the weekend at several locations in the town, following the ongoing conflict.

During the operation, five suspects were arrested, including suspects involved in throwing stones at police forces.

In searches conducted by the forces, a Carlo-type rifle and ammunition were located on the premises of a house. At another location, a Glock 17 pistol was found hidden in the ground, and on the roof of a house, items used to prepare Molotov cocktails were located.

All suspects and findings were transferred for further investigation at the Aroer station.

This incident joins a series of violent events within the framework of clan conflicts in Ar'ara and the Negev. As recalled, just last September, 11 suspects were arrested after masked men opened fire at the homes of a rival clan in the town, and the police investigation revealed that stolen IDF weapons were used.
