Owned by Yamit Peretz and led by Chef Guy Peretz, this kosher chef's restaurant and wine bar boasts over 80 wines from select vineyards alongside a vibrant nightlife atmosphere featuring DJs and weekend events.
Located in a commercial center on Carmel Street, the venue surprises guests with a spacious, luxurious interior. Dimmed lighting, elegant design, and thoughtful details set the stage, while weekends bring live performances, dancers, and musicians, transforming dinner into a full evening out.
Culinary Highlights and Menu Favorites
The meal began with the signature Y Focaccia (42 NIS) served with olive oil and confit garlic, accompanied by the Red Social Salad (72 NIS) featuring colorful cherry tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, hot peppers, arugula, crème fraîche, pomegranate vinaigrette, and za'atar. Both starters delivered fresh, vibrant flavors that set a high standard for the evening.
Among the raw fish dishes, the Yellowtail Sashimi (82 NIS) with ouzo-citrus vinaigrette, fennel, apricot, cilantro, mint, and red chili offered exceptional freshness and generous portions for the price. However, the standout favorite was the Y Cracker with Red Tuna (86 NIS), featuring jalapeño aioli, yuzu aioli, and avocado atop a crispy base. It was a rich, perfectly balanced bite that is well worth ordering again.
Main Courses and Sweet Conclusions
The main courses included the Y Burger (128 NIS), featuring freshly ground beef, spicy aioli, caramelized onions, crispy fries, and Japanese pickles inside a brioche bun. While the burger was flavorful and cooked to a good medium, the flavor profile leaned slightly sweet, and the fries lacked ultimate crispiness.
More impressive were the Sweetbread Gnocchi (134 NIS), featuring three skewers of tender sweetbreads served over cloud-like gnocchi in a rich beef reduction with Chardonnay and yuzu. The sweetbreads were expertly cooked, and the gnocchi melted effortlessly on the palate.
To finish, the Belgian Chocolate Soufflé (66 NIS) from the house pastry menu provided a generous and decadent conclusion, served warm alongside vanilla ice cream. Combined with attentive service and a lively atmosphere, Y Grand Social Dining proves that excellent upscale dining and entertainment thrive just outside the metropolitan center.
