Givatayim Leads Israel in Motorcycle Accident Injury Rates, Data Shows
Givatayim ranks first in Israel for the highest proportion of motorcycle and scooter rider injuries in traffic accidents, according to a recent Or Yarok analysis.
Givatayim has recorded the highest relative proportion of motorcycle and scooter riders injured in traffic accidents among major Israeli cities, according to a recent analysis by the Or Yarok association based on Central Bureau of Statistics data for 2021–2025.
Motorcycle Accidents in Givatayim and Gush Dan
Nearly half of all drivers injured in accidents in Givatayim over the past five years were riders of two-wheeled vehicles. Out of 137 drivers injured during this period, 68 were motorcyclists or scooter riders, accounting for 49.6% of the total—the highest rate among cities with over 50,000 residents.
Ramat Gan followed in second place with 40.3% (250 out of 619 injured drivers), while Tel Aviv ranked third at 35.7% (1,192 out of 3,335). Bnei Brak and Holon rounded out the top five with 32.3% and 31.9% respectively. Experts note that this high concentration in the Gush Dan metropolitan area is closely linked to heavy commuting traffic.
National Trends and Rising Fatalities
At the other end of the scale, Beersheba recorded just 7.1% of injured drivers coming from two-wheeled transport. Meanwhile, Jerusalem saw the highest absolute number of injured drivers (2,816), though its relative ranking placed it 16th at 22.1%.
The findings come amid a concerning surge in fatalities among riders. In 2025, a record 106 motorcycle and scooter riders were killed in traffic accidents, representing 23% of all road fatalities that year. Data indicates that the risk of death or severe injury for a two-wheeler rider is 18 times higher than that of a car driver.
"The data is sharp and clear and should have turned on a red light at the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety. We must not accept these numbers with indifference," said Yaniv Yaakov, CEO of the Or Yarok association.
