Gilat Peru Secures $28 Million Contract for Ica Broadband Upgrade
Gilat Satellite Networks' Peruvian subsidiary has secured a $28 million contract with PRONATEL to upgrade broadband infrastructure across the Ica region.

Gilat Satellite Networks (Nasdaq and TASE: GILT), a global leader in satellite networking technology, solutions, and services, announced a major commercial milestone: its Peruvian subsidiary, Gilat Peru, has signed a massive $28 million contract with PRONATEL, the National Communications Program of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Peru.
The comprehensive project is designed to completely upgrade broadband communications infrastructure in the Ica region of Peru. The construction and upgrade phase is scheduled to conclude during the first half of 2027, immediately followed by an operational and ongoing maintenance phase lasting an additional 7 years.
Project Scope and Public Impact
Under the agreement, the upgraded network will deliver internet speeds up to 20 times faster than those currently available for 116 public institutions across the region, while providing free Wi-Fi access in 30 central public squares. This move will dramatically enhance the capacity of educational, healthcare, and public security institutions in the region to provide and receive essential advanced digital services.
The Ica region is the fifth area in Peru to benefit from a major communications infrastructure upgrade under the national program since 2025. The project builds on the extensive expertise and experience accumulated by Gilat Peru over the years in deploying, upgrading, and operating large-scale communication networks throughout Peru, including in remote and geographically challenging areas.
Leadership Remarks
"The project to provide broadband in the Ica region will strengthen the connectivity of public institutions and expand free internet access for residents, as part of government initiatives to bridge the digital divide and transform advanced communication capabilities into opportunities for citizens," said Rafael Arias Velarde, Executive Director of PRONATEL.
Arie Rohrstock, President of Gilat Peru, added that quality connectivity plays a central role in providing access to digital services and opportunities. Rohrstock noted that the company is proud to bring its accumulated experience to the Ica region, strengthen the infrastructure connecting public institutions, and expand internet access for communities throughout the area.
