MK Gilad Kariv Urges Change Coalition to Replace Netanyahu Government
MK Gilad Kariv emphasized the necessity of forming a change coalition with Ra'am to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while rejecting blanket conscription exemptions for ultra-Orthodox parties.

MK Gilad Kariv of The Democrats criticized remarks regarding the change bloc's willingness to compromise with ultra-Orthodox parties on IDF military conscription. Speaking to 103FM on Sunday, Kariv emphasized that his party remains firmly committed to achieving equality in the national burden and opposes granting blanket exemptions.
Kariv stated that the primary objective is to swear in a new government as swiftly as possible based on the previous change coalition alongside Ra'am, arguing that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's continued tenure poses a danger to the country. He noted that while an alternative coalition of 48 seats plus Ra'am could govern, ultra-Orthodox parties might engage in genuine negotiations if they truly care for their constituents, potentially leading to significant recruitment of young ultra-Orthodox citizens.
Addressing ministerial ambitions, Kariv outlined his party's demands for key portfolios, including the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education, and various social ministries. He also dismissed the idea of serving as Minister for Religious Services, asserting that such a ministry is unnecessary in Israel. Regarding political alliances and Avigdor Lieberman's hesitations, Kariv stressed that campaign rhetoric often differs from post-election realities shaped by voters.
