Just 23 days before the Knesset elections and nearly four years after taking office, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has finalized an updated conflict of interest agreement. The document, signed on October 4 by Deputy Attorney General Gil Limon with the backing of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, outlines years of delays in submitting necessary information and reveals that uncertainties regarding his private law firm remain unresolved.

The initial legal opinion regarding Ben Gvir was issued on June 4, 2026, roughly three and a half years after his appointment in December 2022. According to the document, the minister submitted his conflict-of-interest questionnaire in August 2023, nearly eight months after taking office and only following a formal reminder. Despite repeated requests from the legal counsel of the Ministry for National Security sent throughout 2024, essential details concerning his former clients and legal practice were withheld for years.

Under the terms of the updated arrangement, Ben Gvir is strictly barred from handling matters involving his relatives, close friends, former clients, and associates from his law firm. The restrictions explicitly cover the prison conditions of former clients and other judicial proceedings he previously managed. Furthermore, specific limitations apply to the professional activities of his wife, Ayala Ben Gvir, as an educator, extending across all of his ministerial duties and participation in cabinet committees. The minister's office declined to comment on the matter.
