In the midst of the summer vacation season, Gett is launching a new service that will allow Israelis to book trips abroad and pay directly through the familiar app - with the price displayed in advance in shekels. The service is launching in a pilot period in more than 25 countries, and is expected to expand later to more than 70 countries around the world.

In the first stage, the service will be available in Austria, Italy, Ireland, the USA, Belgium, Georgia, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hungary, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Finland, the Czech Republic, France, Canada, Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

At Gett, they explain that for many Israelis, getting around abroad starts with searching for a local transport service, downloading an additional app, and trying to understand the price of trips in shekel terms. The new service is intended to save this process and allow booking trips abroad through the app that users are already familiar with.

Upon opening the Gett app abroad, users will be able to book trips that will be operated by local and international transport providers. Users will not be required to download additional apps or register for separate services. Customer service will be provided by Gett in Hebrew, directly through the app.

The service will not be limited to taxis only, and will offer, depending on the supply in each destination, private cars, electric vehicles, premium vehicles, and large shuttle vehicles. The various options and prices will be displayed in advance in the app in shekels, and payment will be made using the payment method already saved in the user's account.

At Gett, they emphasize that prices are determined by local service providers, in accordance with the characteristics of the trip and the customs in each destination. The price shown to the customer in the app will be in shekels and will appear before confirming the order.

How the service will work abroad

Behind the service is Gett's technological infrastructure, which connects to the HQ Extend platform, which brings together hundreds of local transport providers and fleets around the world. Through the connection, it is possible to make a variety of transport services accessible through the Gett app in different countries, while maintaining the familiar user experience. Gett receives the service prices in shekels and transfers them to HQ in shekels, so there is no foreign currency conversion by Gett during the process.

The service joins a series of moves promoted by Gett to expand its operations beyond ordering taxis and deliveries. Recently, the company expanded its operations in Israel to include various transport services, and now it is expanding the model outside of Israel as well.

During the pilot period, Gett is expected to expand the service to additional countries and add new capabilities. In the first stage, it will be possible to contact the driver via a phone call, and later an option to make calls via the internet directly from the app is expected to be added.

Mark Oun, CEO of Gett, said:

"We are constantly looking at the changing needs of users and the way we can provide them with a broader response. Based on this concept, we expanded the range of transport options we offer our users in Israel and now we are taking another step and allowing our users to take Gett with them abroad as well. Our goal is simple - to be the transport platform for Israelis and allow them to get around in a way that suits them, in the country and in the world".

Amiad Solomon, CEO of HQ, stated:

"We are excited to collaborate with Gett. Through the connection with HQ Extend, millions of Israelis will now be able to move easily around the world without changing the familiar user experience with Gett, and enjoy high-quality, global service in Hebrew and based on existing payment methods".
