UN Human Rights Chief Urges Gaza War Crime Probe, Israel Rejects Claims
UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk urged Israel to permit international investigators into Gaza to probe war crime allegations, drawing a sharp rebuke from Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk urged Israel to allow international investigators into the Gaza Strip to help collect evidence regarding suspected war crimes. Türk stated that bodies of entire families are being discovered beneath the rubble in areas struck by Israeli operations.
UN Demands Access and Investigation
According to the UN, over 630 bodies and remains have been recovered from the debris between November 2025 and September 2026. The UN estimates that the total number of missing persons under the rubble could exceed 8,000. Türk emphasized that families are entitled to the full truth regarding their loved ones.
"The families are entitled to know the full truth," Türk stated, calling for proper documentation, forensic preservation, and victim identification.
Israeli Response
Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, strongly rejected the statements, calling them absurd and biased.
"This is another delusional statement by a delusional man who proves his obsession against Israel is stronger than the facts," Danon responded.
