Gafni hints he will recommend that rabbis support Eisenkot
Moshe Gafni was asked if he would recommend that the 'Torah giants' support Gadi Eisenkot and did not rule out the possibility: "I know what I am going to recommend, but I am not allowed to say." Regarding the partnership with Benjamin Netanyahu, he stated: "We reached the conclusion that in this term we cannot do things with them that concern our children and our families."
Knesset member Moshe Gafni was asked this evening (Tuesday) at an event he attended whether he intends to recommend Gadi Eisenkot or Benjamin Netanyahu for Prime Minister. He hinted that the possibility of recommending the chairman of the "Yashar" party is on the table. "I know what I am going to recommend, and I know that I am not allowed to say it," he said.
Gafni was asked if he would recommend that the "Torah giants" support Eisenkot, in light of the experience with Netanyahu, and replied: "I know what I am going to recommend, and I know that I am not allowed to say it."
Later, Gafni explained: "The public that is on Netanyahu's side is a public that is close to us. It is a traditional public and is not on the 'other side.' On the other side, there are people with whom we have no business, and it is clear that in order to get closer to a certain public, one must get closer to those who are in the right-wing camp. The public that is there is closer to us."
"On the other hand," Gafni added, "we reached the conclusion from what happened in this term that we cannot do things with them that concern our children and our families. There is a reality where it will be easier for us. This is a question that requires a decision for generations to come, and therefore I do not rule it out."
