Cozy Friday Menu: Braised Meatballs, Lemon Potatoes, and Challah
Discover a comforting Friday dinner menu featuring braided olive oil challah, a crisp round-cut vegetable salad, meatballs with caramelized onions and chestnuts, tangy lemon potatoes, and an inverted orange cake.

Planning your Friday dinner menu just got easier with a comforting, festive lineup featuring a braided olive oil challah, a crisp vegetable salad, hearty meatballs in chestnut sauce, tangy lemon potatoes, and an upside-down orange cake.
Keren Agam’s signature challah starts with a soft olive oil dough, skillfully braided from four strands, and dusted with a fine layer of flour before baking. It makes a classic centerpiece for the Shabbat table.
For a refreshing side, Michal Waxman’s vegetable salad reinvents the classic mix by slicing cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, and carrots into uniform rounds, tossed with onion, lemon juice, olive oil, and a touch of sugar.
The main course brings rich flavors with beef meatballs simmered in a caramelized onion and chestnut sauce, enhanced by a touch of silan for depth. Alongside them, lemon-garlic potatoes are first browned on the stovetop and then roasted until tender with fresh oregano and lemon juice.
To finish the meal, a classic orange cake gets a stunning presentation with thin orange slices arranged at the bottom of the pan, turning into a gorgeous glazed topping when inverted.
